Duqm
Road-trip stop between Muscat and Salalah. Duqm is a coastal city in central Oman on the Arabian Sea, about 550 km south of Muscat. It’s known for being a major industrial and port city (Special Economic Zone) but also has some interesting natural attractions and quiet beaches.
Stay: Park Inn by Radisson
Al Hadd
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve
May–September is often best for hatchlings and peak nesting, but turtles can be seen year-round.
Join a guided turtle tour at night or dawn. Guides take small groups to the protected beach to see green turtles coming ashore, digging nests, laying eggs, or hatchlings heading to the sea (season dependent). Flash photography and bright lights are not allowed to protect the turtles.
Best options:
- Night tour (around 9 PM) — more dramatic experience in darkness.
- Dawn tour (around 5 AM) — cooler, less crowded, and better natural visibility. Prefer this for seeing hatchlings and Watch sunrise on the beach.
Stay: Same place (expensive) or Turtle Guest House (moderate)

Bimmah
Bimmah Sinkhole / Hawiyat Najm Park
is one of Oman’s most famous natural attractions — a large turquoise sinkhole where you can swim.
What to do there
Swim in the sinkhole — the water is clear and cool, great in hot weather. Bring swimwear and a towel.
Relax and take photos — the turquoise color is beautiful.
Walk around the rim — short paths and viewpoints around the sinkhole.
Fish spa effect — tiny fish sometimes nibble at your feet in the water.
What to expect
It’s inside a landscaped park with stairs down to the water.
Spend 1-2hours
Best time to visit Morning or late afternoon to avoid strong midday heat. Weekdays are usually less crowded.
There are washrooms and shaded areas in the park.
